Déjà vu, Consciousness, Time & English Pubs

Deja Vu - that strange feeling that one has lived this moment before - is recognised as being the most common 'psychic' experience. So what exactly is Deja Vu? Can it simply be a confusion of perception or is there something much more important taking place? This is the place to record your own experiences of this mysterious phenomenon ... maybe even join in a very important world-wide survey that will attempt to finally explain this mystery.

Déjà vu, Consciousness, Time & English Pubs

Postby A Dark Philosopher on Mon Nov 09, 2009 1:25 pm

With thanks to Tony, Art Funkhouser, the FORUM members who completed my déjà questionnaire and the hundreds of non-FORUM members that contributed to my déjà survey or have emailed/sent twitter messages, here is my most recent paper which references Tony and ITLAD/CTF:

Déjà vu, Consciousness, Time & English Pubs

This can be read as a stand-alone paper but does have ties to my previous paper discussed in the thread: Horizon - The Secret You, which can also still be viewed online:

"The Search For Consciousness, The Search For You"

As Tony will be appearing on BBC Radio Merseyside this afternoon at 3pm UK TIME to discuss déjà in relation to ITLAD, I decided to publish my paper over the weekend and have already been amazed at the response worldwide.

I intend to write a follow-up in the coming few months including the wider spectrum of déjà phenomena and more of the stories of people's personal experiences, so if you wish to be involved please email me your story, comments, questions and opinions to the email address on the paper.

I think Karl is to be congratulated for putting together a great paper that pulls together what is now known about déjà phenomena in a way that is easy to read and digest. I really like his combination of quoting from the published literature (both scientific and literary) and also from those who are having these intriguing experiences. I highly recommend his opus as a very good read and I look forward to the sequel.

Enormous thank you, Art. Your contributions to my paper were invaluable and I'm delighted you enjoyed the final draft. I've received some tremendous feedback already which I can certainly use in the follow-up paper, and your involvement with that will be most welcome.

Karl,

Simply stunning piece of work Karl. You clearly received many responses ..... would be good to have some of the respondees involved on the DV section.

Timing was perfect for my first BBC Slot.

Karl: Our congratulations from Gnosis Arts. I see Daniel Pinchbeck's guys are praising you over at Evolver, and I did get a call from a publisher in San Francisco who read the first. Hitting your stride, and maybe will post on Pinchbeck as well. Good work, young man.

Thank you, Tony. Some of the respondees are indeed already involved in the DV Section. My aim was to write a balanced paper so I tried to keep an ITLADic slant out of the final draft but I have several completed questionnaires that I may show you because of their specific ITLADic content, as exampled in the paper with Stephanie's story of her train fugue.

Partly the reason i published it this last weekend. Thank you for referencing it on your radio appearance and thank you for your input to the paper. The follow-up is already taking shape from the responses I'm receiving and I would like to incorporate CTF into the new paper also, in a couple of months' time perhaps.

Thank you Susan Marie, I've been quite surprised by the number of emails and twitter messages I've received from over in the US. Thanks for the Pinchbeck link and the Evolver detail. I'd be very interested to hear more about this San Francisco publisher!

I enjoyed the paper very much, and I thought it covered all of the various 'deja' experiences really well, with great examples!

I was also excited by the example of FAR, which is something I have personally experienced, so it was also extremely valuable from a personal point of view.

Great stuff.
