Occasionally my wife and I order a take-away - usually Sweet 'n' Sour from the local Chinese.
The shop is just a short 3 minute walk away but entails crossing what is often quite a busy road.
On this particular Sunday evening we walked to the take-away, picked up our order and headed back home. We looked up and down the road before we ventured across to the other side (I mean the road - not THE other side - obviously). There was not a car in sight but I had barely got a third of the way across before I felt like I had been hit across the legs by a car. (I've never been hit by a car so can only assume what this must feel like). There was a seering pain across both my lower legs - there was also some time dilation (it seemed to take a long time to cross the road). I felt physically sick and almost did throw up. My wife was very aware that something was happening to me. We were holding hands and I went very cold and perspired a lot. The whole thing really shook me up. The pain in my legs persisted for many minutes and I felt a definate 'line' across my legs where they had been 'severed'.
