QUESTION: When does Consciousness begin?

Consciousness is simply the biggest mystery known to humanity. What exactly does it mean to say "I am conscious"? How can inanimate matter and a jumble of chemicals bring forth thought and self-awareness? What creates the inner world of thoughts, motivations and fears? What exactly are dreams? what are memories and where are they stored? These are some of the many questions that have been the domain of philosophy for centuries but now a new science - known as consciousness studies - is attempting to give some answers. Taking into account the results of the latest research CTF/ITLAD makes some radical suggestions with regard to consciousness and memory. Are these reasonable?

Myself and Kath have just been watching a series of talks on dvd by David Icke, i used to write this guy off as a crackpot, but he is no more of a crackpot than any of us. This guy should be listened to more as most if not all of what he says makes perfect sense. He even say's in the dvd The turning of the tide that "we are like droplets of water in an ocean of infinite consciousness" and go's on very much to say what you have been saying Karl regarding Ctcw. I highly recommend this dvd to all on the forum to watch.

Hi Dave. Which Icke DVD was it? Was it Beyond The Cutting Edge, which I think is bar far his best? Or one of his others? I tend to agree with around 70-80% of what Icke presents but he loses me when he starts talking about the lizards! :?

Thanks Dave, his quote here certainly reflects my Bucket and Sea analogy. A DVD along similar lines that I would recommend you and Kath to watch is Amit Goswami's "The Quantum Activist".

Karl the dvd we watched is The Turning of the tide. I have yet to watch the one on the reptilians. The next one we are watching is The secrets of the Matrix.

Thanks Dave. If memory serves me well, Turning of the Tide is a very early one isn't it? Mid to late nineties? I know Secrets of the Matrix was around 2005/6 and comes in three parts. I'm fairly sure I have the "Beyond The Cutting Edge" (2008) lectures and Icke at the Oxford Union Debating Society back home, so will check for you later.

Thanks Karl we would appreciate that, we have only just started delving into Ickes work after picking one of his books up in town. We were hooked straight away, as it is something we have always been interested in. That is what brought us to meet Tony in the first place, we saw an ad for his book. Funny thing is, its the same bookstore we first seen the ad for Tony's ITLAD book.

I'll get them to you in next few days. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Just not about the lizards! :D

Perhaps each conscious level has its own way of seeing itself for the first time as it moves through levels. Have you thought about that?

Perhaps each level has a default assigned to it by itself, but also by the observer of all levels, wherein it must not have knowledge of certain levels in order to retain observation on all or some levels....

If we accept that time is non linear should we therefore be assuming that consciousness has a begining.

Conscousness IS

linear time does not necessarily have any relevance to consciousness

Time is a process created by the observer. It is simply a buffer that allows a difference between the asking for and the having of a desire isn't it?
